Surgery and Healing The preparation for your surgery should start with visit to our office. We will explain step by step what will happen, and what would be the best way to get ready. Here are our recommendations: - reserve about 1 hour to spend in our office to see, listen, and ask questions - order a surgical camisole (our fitter will help you to choose correct size) with one or two puffs, to take to the hospital with you - choose a wig with preferred cut style and color, to put it in your file; when you start chemotherapy and the time will come to replace your missing hair, it will take only a few days to have it delivered. These camisoles are designed to be used immediately after breast or any chest related surgery. The cotton/lycra fabric provides a gentle hug to hold the drainage tubs and adjustable puffs in place. They are easy to use: or through a neckline extending enough to allow a step-in entry (left), or with front zipper (right). Because of drainage tubes, your choices after surgery are limited, and a surgical camisole is essential. Velcro attachable pouches hold the tubes securely and comfortably; fiberfill puffs bring a more natural look. Both are included with the surgical camisole and are covered by Medicare and other insurances. After the drainage tubes are removed, you are ready for the first visit to our fitting room. You'll be fitted in a soft, non-intrusive leisure bra with easy-to-use front closure, and non-silicone leisure breast prosthesis. Each bra has breathable pockets for the breast prosthesis; each prosthesis has a cover for softness and comfort; both will bring back symmetry and a natural look allover silky-soft lightweighted foam form allover stretch microfiber fabric in removable cover, with cotton blend fabric with delicate lace accent weighted core for minimal for maximum comfort weight and maximum comfort allover lace with fashionable camisoles with lace cotton leisure bra with smooth cotton pockets applique at neckline; allover pretty lace accent and super-soft knit fabric for comfort padded shoulder straps two fiber forms, two pouches for comfort and support inner tabs for extra security These items should be worn for the incisions' healing time - usually 4 to 6 weeks. They are covered by Medicare and other insurances up to 80%. Second insurance covers remaining 20% When the incisions are closed and dry, you are ready for a permanent, worn every day at least for 8 hours, silicone breast prosthesis and post surgical bras. Permanent breast prosthesis are designed to look and fill in weight, texture, and shape, as close as possible to your natural breast. Worn in close-fitting pocketed bras, they create a symmetrical appearance and restore the body's natural balance. Whether you've undergone a mastectomy or lumpectomy your prosthesis will depend on the amount and location of removed tissue. Only a certified fitter is able to put the adequate prosthesis in the best fitting bra. , |
